Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer

First of all I’d like to apologise for my lack of blog posts recently, this has been due to the sheer amount of uni assignments I’ve had in recent weeks which has (sadly) left me little time to work on my blog. But to make up for this, I have a number of new fashion and beauty purchases that I will be sharing and reviewing in the next few weeks so keep an eye out.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer

When I realised I’d saved up enough Boots points to buy something nice, I decided to try out Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Concealer. Having always used Boi-ing and more recently, Rimmel’s Wake Me Up concealer, I wanted to try out the much raved about Double Wear range to see what all the fuss was about. Since the weather has become colder, my skin doesn’t get as much Vitamin D as it did in the summer and this has definitely had an effect on my skin so a longer lasting concealer was in need anyway.

Before trying this concealer I was worried that it might be slightly drying on my skin or make it feel quite cloggy, but I haven’t found either of these to be a problem. I apply Double Wear over my foundation and blend it in using a concealer brush and for me this really works. I find that it does last all day and is fairly lightweight on my skin so I don’t feel like I have a face full of makeup. That said, I don’t think you could wear this concealer on it’s own without any foundation underneath because it is quite a thick consistency and may not blend into the skin very well on its own. For those of you who are looking for a concealer to wear without a foundation, I would recommend the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer which I have reviewed here.

I bought Estee Lauder’s concealer in a shade 02 (light/medium) but it is also available in eight other shades, so there is a match for all types of skin tones. It also has an SPF of 10 and is oil-free as well as being water, perspiration and humidity-resistant. If you are interested in buying this concealer then pop to your closest Estee Lauder counter for someone to match the perfect colour to your skin tone.

The Lecture Makeup Look

Quite a few of you have probably started back at university so I’ve decided to talk you through a makeup look perfect for a lecture. If you’re anything like me a 9 o’clock start is such a killer, especially if you’ve been out late the night before, so the longer you can stay in bed, the better. I tend to wear minimal makeup in the day, mainly because I don’t have the time to spend in the morning, but I do try to make it look like I have made some effort with this quick and simple makeup routine.

The Pore Fessional Primer

The PoreFessional Primer Benefit

I had never used a primer as part of my make-up routine until I was given this tester at the Benefit counter in Boots, so I decided to give it a go and I absolutely love it.

The primer minimises the appearance of pores and leaves your skin looking smooth and radiant. Having always just applied moisturiser under my foundation, I often found it didn’t last for very long and would rub off by the end of the day, but when I used this it gave me a lasting finish. Pore Fessional is like a balm, so you apply a small amount either on its own or under foundation. It’s also great because it contains vitamins and uses an oil free formula to compliment all skin types. Although it is quite pricey at £24.40, I would definitely recommend it and I will purchasing it on my next trip into town.
