New Look Heeled Casual Winter Boots

It’s that time of year again where you are on the hunt for a nice pair of winter boots but sadly for me, I can’t quite afford of a pair of Kurt Geieger’s so I had to look elsewhere. New Look have recently been offering 20% for students so I decided to utilise this offer and had a rummage through the shoe department. Lo and behold I came across these lace up boots with a small heel and I’m so glad I did. With the discount they only cost me around £23 (bargain!) and are really comfy to wear, the rubber heel means you can wear them in the daytime and they give you some extra height which is always a plus!

Where have you been shopping for your winter boots this year?

September Favourites

Can you believe that it’s nearly October – where did the summer go? I must admit that I’m pretty excited because I love this time of year. I love Autumn clothes, hot chocolates and of course, Halloween, but more on that later on in the month.

For now, I’m going to write about my September Favourites. I always love reading monthly favourite posts but have never written one myself so I’ve decided to make this a monthly feature on my blog that will include lots of things I am loving from makeup and fashion to food.

1)H&M

I can’t believe how impressed I was when I went into H&M the other week, I literally wanted to buy the whole store. I did buy quite a few things so be sure to look out for my H&M Haul on Wednesday. I love the fact everything is affordable (all students will agree with me here) but you don’t compromise on the quality. I will definitely be returning when my student loan hits my bank account.

The Casual Heel

New Look

I’ve always loved wearing heels and personally think they make any outfit look ten times better, but it’s not always practical to wear 5 inch heels when you are just popping into town. I wanted to find myself a pair of comfy, casual heels that I could just throw on with a pair of skinny jeans or cigarette trousers but as I’m a student I really needed to find myself an affordable pair.

I came across these chunky heels in New Look and fell completely in love with them, the chunky heel and lace up the front means these are so comfy to walk in and are causal enough to wear in the daytime. I also love the fact they are open toe as it makes these heavy, grungy heels quite girly. And for £25 you can’t really go wrong, can you?

I’ve been wearing these non-stop with my skinny jeans and will definitely be wearing them right up until it’s too cold to have my bare feet out.

So if you are looking for a comfy pair of casual heels, I suggest you snap these up before they all sell out!

Behind The Scenes at Heat Towers

I was on my way to heat towers in the heart of London for two weeks work experience with Leicester Square and Convent Garden on its doorstep. As you can imagine, I was extremely nervous as I stepped on the tube surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the London rush hour, but this nervousness soon disappeared when I arrived and was greeted by the most welcoming fashion team.

Heat magazine

Junior Style Writer, Hannah Brimson was my supervisor for the week and sat at the desk next to mine with her friendly attitude making me feel part of the  team. I was shown around the office and told what I would be up to for the next two weeks and it didn’t include making the tea and coffee (hooray). My first task involved sending back clothes to PR companies after a shoot with Ferne McCann from TOWIE – to do this, I used a site called Fashion Monitor to look up contacts and ensure that all items were sent back to the right places.

Throughout the two weeks, my other duties consisted of researching current fashion trends using celebrity pap photos for inspiration, calling PR companies to request items for shoots (it was pretty cool answering the phone with ‘hello heat…’) and I even got to write some ‘who wore it better’ stories for heatworld.com which you can view here.

I even got my own pass

I even got my own pass

The Brit Awards were held during my work experience and a group of the heat team were invited to report on the red carpet and even got to attend the after parties! The next day I couldn’t believe how lucky they had been as they casually dropped in conversation that they were chatting to the likes of Kylie Minogue and Harry Styles to name a few. At that point I knew this was definitely the job for me!

When the two weeks were up I couldn’t believe how quickly it had gone – I really didn’t want to leave. It has made me realise how much I want to work for a company like heat as there genuinely wasn’t a task that I didn’t enjoy doing! They even gave me a goody bag full of lots of lovely hair and beauty products to say thank you which was completely unexpected as the work experience was a treat in itself!

Look at my lovely goody bag!

I now hope to further my knowledge and skills I learnt from heat and gain more work experience in the media. If you have any questions about my time at heat I’d be happy to answer them and would also love to hear about any of your experiences!
